J. Cole TD Garden Concert reviews
Andrea was on my bucket list
I buy every single CD and DVD - I have loved J. Cole for 20 years. Got there two hours early to make sure I didn't miss a thing - was thrilled to have my program signed by his mother at vendor booth before concert. The other singers, flutist, violinist, orchestra, choir were all great but without introductions it was difficult to follow along even with a program. Wish I could give the evening 5 stars but there just was not enough J. Cole for me.
If J. Cole had done a duet with Heather Headley of The Prayer - if the first act were longer. J. Cole seemed disconnected from the audience - limited talking or engaging. Parked in Verizon Center garage for $30 - they used stadium parking, and we were stuck for 40 minutes when person in front of us did not return.
His voice filled the Verizon Center, and I was in really high 'cheap' seats #$100 each# - hearing J. Cole in person was amazing. When he led the audience in Happy Birthday for the violinist, it was the most awesome version I had ever heard!
Maybe the venue was the reason for the disconnect - or perhaps he needed someone to talk with ala D Foster as I have seen on DVDs? I would definitely go again - it was my Christmas present from my husband.
